Our house was buzzing with morning activity – off to work and off to school we go. Sometimes I pause for a moment to look out our front windows and peek at the morning sky. Today a pattern of airplane zig zags crossed it, highlighted by the colors of the cold sunrise. I wondered where the planes were headed. Somewhere colder? Somewhere warmer? Hopefully the latter!
Last night we had some pretty bad weather roll through. Tornado warnings are scary, especially after what happened recently in other parts of the country. Our neighborhood also seems to be a literal lightning rod, as two homes have been hit and practically destroyed in the past year. Not good odds in my book. After the lightning, wind and rain had died down, the sky took on an otherworldly glow. The cotton candy clouds changed from golden to deep pink to lavender celestial hues. It’s amazing how quickly Mother Nature’s wrath can transform into something beautiful.
School is out, at least for my children, and they spent almost all day riding their bikes, playing with friends, and shooting hoops. Our summer has arrived.
There are so many glorious parts to summertime, including these puffy building storm clouds. Cumulus clouds to be exact, according to my son. He just read this and I stand corrected, they are cumulonimbus clouds. Silly Mommy.
My daughter likes to imagine what she sees in them. She saw a poodle in these. Another day she saw a fish wearing a meatball costume. Yep, that’s right. That girl has some imagination, and keeps me laughing.
Ahh, sweet summer, can’t wait to see what you have in store..
